Hi, my name is Allison. I am a Christian, a musician, & a writer. I started this blog in order to continue
expanding the ministry to which God has called me, & I love being able to use the creativity that God has given me through the creation & upkeep of this blog.

The Story Behind
My_Savior_Moves_Mountains
In late 2012, I came across Instagram. I saw the application in the Apple App Store & downloaded it. After creating an account, I started looking around for other accounts to follow, but at that point, Instagram wasn’t nearly as popular as it is now & no one I knew even had Instagram, so I started looking for other people to follow. I came across different quote & “inspirational” accounts, but really none with Christian-based posts. I really liked the idea of an inspirational account though, & a little while after having created a personal account, in February of 2013, God led me to create a Christian-based account. It wasn’t much at first; I would share pretty much every post I found that I liked & even created some of my own.
I didn’t really share anything written though, mostly just pictures. I searched all over Instagram & found all the Bible verse edits & inspirational quotes I could, & I posted all of them. I posted photos with Christian quotes, Bible verses, inspirational quotes, & Christian song lyrics, & I decided that my username would be @Songs_Quotes_Gods_Spirit . From there, I started to grow, but quite slowly. A little less than a year into it, I wanted to change my username to something better (it wouldn’t take much to improve, though), so I started looking around for inspiration. I wanted something that would point to God, make it obvious that my account was Christian-based, & be original. Even all the way back then, I loved listening to music. One day, I heard “Mighty to Save” by Laura Story (link below) on the radio, which had already been a favorite of mine (& will always have a special place in my heart), & as soon as I heard the chorus, I thought, “that’s my username!” I’ve been @My_Savior_Moves_Mountains since then, & I plan to continue using MSMM as a ministry identity. At this point, I began making more edits, & my account was slowly beginning to grow, but I still wasn’t writing much in the way of captions for my posts.
Eventually, God opened my eyes to the potential that the captions could have, & I began writing. It wasn’t much at first. I would post a Bible verse & then write a little bit about the verse, but it didn’t really go anywhere until 2014. In January, I started something similar to a Bible reading plan, called “Daily Word with Sonni”. Every day, I would share verses based around a specific topic, but I ended up giving that up after about four months, because it got to be too much (If you want to see those posts, search #dailywordwithsonni on Instagram). After that, I started gearing more toward devotion-writing. I will link below one of the earliest devotionals I’ve written. It doesn’t have much depth in it, but you can see how much God has worked in my life since then, & you can see the seeds that were planted.
From there, my account started growing more & more. Honestly, for a while, I got caught up in that. I still do sometimes. It’s easy to feel like you’ve accomplished all of it yourself, but that is certainly not the case. None of this would have happened had God not called me to it, & it wouldn’t have gone anywhere had God not been in the midst of it & the Creator of it all. He is the One Who is Head of this ministry & all that I write. I am overwhelmed & extremely blessed by the way God has used all of this to change my life. Once I started writing devotionals, I wanted to write more, & the more I wrote, the more I learned about God & His love for us. I started studying the Bible more & pressing deeper into my faith, & God has immensely blessed this ministry that started out as something so small. When I first started, I had no idea that God had all this in store. He has changed lives through all of this; perhaps my own most of all. God is still working in me, & I am very honored to be living out the calling that He has placed on this area of my life.
After a while, my captions started to become too long for Instagram's caption limits. While I do still to this day post those very long captions on Instagram, the idea of a blog intrigued me, & so I started looking into the creation of one. I found Weebly through some friends on Instagram, & from there, I started working to create a blog. Through the years, I've gone back & forth with the idea of a blog. For a while, I gave up on it because it was too much for me at the time, & also because I really wasn't sure what to post. back in January, it was suggested by a friend that I should start a blog, so I started praying about it & began looking into it again. Since January, I've been working long & hard on this blog, & seeing it come to fruition is such a neat blessing! I look forward to continuing on in the MSMM ministry both through Instagram & through this blog, & I am excited to see what God has in store for it.

About Allison
When I’m not online, you’ll likely find me playing the piano, singing, or playing the guitar. If none of those, I’m likely listening to someone else play music or singing internally (I pretty much absorb music). I also love reading my Amplified Bible (technically what’s now considered the Classic Edition of the Amplified Bible) & writing notes/making illustrations in it. I love being creative, & I quite enjoy creating things. I have a lot of fun doing DIY projects, & I have a good time finding new things to do (LOTS of them) on Pinterest.
In my free time, I enjoy working out, swimming, & spending time with loved ones (including my polar bears), & along with that, I almost always have either a smoothie or a water bottle. I try to eat healthfully (though, who doesn’t enjoy a pizza or a nice order of fries every once in a while? I know I do), & I find it important to stay hydrated at all times. If you ever see me, I’ll likely be holding one of the water bottles from my recently-started collection.

I also believe it’s important to stay spiritually hydrated, which is part of the reason why I created this blog. As I live life from day to day & learn the ways of God, as well as the plans He has for my life & for the lives of all His children, I want to share my experiences with you. I want to share what God places on my heart, & the insight He gives me through the study of His Word. I want to shine the light that God places in each & every one of us, & I want to encourage you to let yours burn brightly.
