When you have a relationship - & I mean any kind of relationship, from friendship to marriage & everything in between - one of the most important things is communication. In order for any relationship to begin to grow, you must initiate conversation. It helps you get to know each other, & it brings you closer than you ever would be if you never spoke to the other person, Likewise, when you gradually stop talking to someone, you begin to drift away from them. Life happens, & you’re so caught up in it that it the relationship you once saw as a top priority begins to fade into the background. Unfortunately, this oftentimes is the case for many of us when it comes to our relationship with God. It can be a challenge pursuing a relationship with God, since we cannot always physically see Him or hear His audible voice at any given time, we sometimes forget that He is here with us, & sometimes even doubt His existence.
It can be frustrating when there seems to be no way to communicate with God, but you see, there is a way. The Bible is the word of God, given to men by The Holy Spirit, Who used them to bring God’s words down to earth for us, His children. It is our way to hear from God when His voice cannot be heard, & when you make to commitment to read His word & take it to heart, The Holy Spirit will speak to you & reveal things that cannot be known by any other way. He is our comforter, & He is our intercessor. Without Him, words from the Bible don’t always sink in. My point is, we need God’s word. It truly is food for our souls, & without it, we would never have had knowledge of the indescribable love that God has for us. We would not know of Him, & we wouldn’t even know Him.
Remember to always make time for reading the Bible & soaking in God’s presence, even if you don’t feel like it. It holds our future, it guides us, it teaches us, it makes us grow, it convicts us, it shows us right from wrong, & it gives us a roadmap for life. The truth is, if you don’t feel like reading the Bible, or you think you don’t need to, that’s when you need to do so the most. One of the worst things that can happen in our walk with God is being tricked into thinking we’ve gotten as far as we can go, or being satisfied with the way our relationship with God is now. We are always supposed to be growing in faith.
I don’t care if you’ve read the Bible 30 times cover-to-cover & have the whole thing memorized (which would be amazing, but isn’t the point), you still need to continually feed your spirit with the word of God. He is the One that first breathed life into us when we were a pile of dirt on the face of the earth. We are made to have a relationship with Him, & in order to do so, we need to put in the effort to be with Him & listen to Him. Above all else, seek God & instill His word in your heart. Treat the Bible as the most cherished book you’ve ever had, because it is. Memorize its words because they are words from the very One Who spoke the world into existence. If the universe could be created just a few words from the mouth of God, imagine what the Bible, which is chock-full of God’s words, could do in your life.
